"The first time I completed a marathon I cried - it had been such a struggle and the accomplishment meant so much to me. But that's nothing compared to the struggle of patients fighting against illness. I'm honored to donate my most recent medal to an individual through Medals for Mettle.

My medal was earned during the 2011 Walt Disney World Half-Marathon, which I ran with my wife, older brother, and one of our best friends. The four of us were not trying to set any speed records. Instead, we just wanted to accomplish something difficult - running 13.1 miles - together as a family. I hope the medal brings a smile to a patient's face, the way it did for me when I crossed the finish line at Walt Disney World."
